WAVE RIDING

Many have heard of such a water sport as wave riding. But what is it? Sport is an active water hobby in which a person rides a wave using a kite in the form of a towing device. Water enthusiasm has formed from a mix of conventional surfing and sailing. A lover of this sport uses kite thrust to lift to the top of the wave. A surfer rises with the energy of two components. This is powerful wave energy and headwind energy. Natural elements allow a lover of wave riding to be on the wave and feel the power of movement and wind at full power. This is not just the ability to ride on the waves, it is a training in the special skill of self-control and control between a kite and a board.
For practicing wave riding, do not use special equipment. These are standard surfboards with and without hinges. Some lovers use small sized kites and apply the technique while standing on their hands. Surfers learn to develop greater speed on the wave and the ability to quickly weaken traction.Beginners in wave riding learn to keep their balance on a flat surface of the water, crash into the wind and return to their starting point.
Water sport is gaining more and more popularity every year, it is closely connected with windsurfing and surfing. Lovers can meet on the same wave rise. The kite allows the surfer to perform complex tricks and experience strong wind energy, compared to conventional surfing. There is no need for an amateur to rake a wave, he just selects a suitable water rise and actively uses a kite.

Widespread wave riding competitions were held in 2011, 2012 and 2013. They were called as World Kite Surf Pro Championship Tournament. Competitions were held simultaneously in several places around the world. This made it possible for athletes to show their abilities. The tournament takes into account the components: wind strength and direction, wave height, water temperature and other parameters.
Only 22 male riders and 12 female surfers participate in the competition. Only the strongest and strongest athletes can be in the tournament. Men’s 10 places are automatically selected according to last year’s competition. 12 other participants are selected by decision of the commission, taking into account the selection of applications, resumes and videos. Among women, 6 places are automatically selected, 6 – according to the results of the selection committee. In competitions, a list of rules has been developed, which must be observed by all participants in the competition.

Riders show a high level of kite mastery. At various stages of the competition, the best surfers are selected. But the winner is the participant who scored the maximum number of points for the competitive stage. Evaluation of the best participant is carried out by categories – complexity, stability, technical maneuvers, degree of combination of basic techniques, speed component, variety of tricks, range of motion and power.

Kitesurfing gives a feeling of risk and danger, fans of this sport experience an adrenaline rush after performing maneuvers and water stunts. But this sport is fraught with risks. There is always a chance to cut yourself on reefs, sharp stones or a board. Kitesurfing has higher risks compared to other types of surfing. There is always a danger of falling into slings or sailing on reefs with kite traction. The surfer should learn to “see” and “understand” the waves, to evaluate at first glance his ability to rise to the wave.
