CHARACTER RACING (ANCIENT SPORT)
Chariot races were first mentioned in Greek history, while the peculiarity of this historical fact lies in several specific details. Namely:
Greece was a military country where the sports training of the child was important to preserve his future life. Chariot races were a military sport, in which mainly warriors took part. It was they who trained to fight horses, since the chariot was not just a tank of the time, but allowed for a short time to transfer the army to the desired location, using only horses and the ability to lead them.
Many ship masters, in order to show the strength of their own products, took part in these races. Almost all the chariots were given to the army, because after that, choosing the models they liked, she ordered ships from the same tree. This method of conducting trade for the first time includes a basic understanding of marketing, in addition, due to the ability to create really strong chariots, many craftsmen sought not only to change their design, but to add dangerous elements that could interfere with the race to other participants.
Young boys sought a break from the war, and the townspeople liked the available entertainment. It is for this reason that chariot races always caused wild delight among the population, in addition, even status persons did not hesitate to get their hands dirty in the dust, since this sport was really a mass national phenomenon.
After that, chariot races reappear, though already in the Roman Empire. This sport has become a great fun, which took place at the Coliseum. At the same time, since now the sport has been partially replaced by the show, the sports component is gone, additional elements have appeared in its place. So gladiators could fight with lions, destroying other soldiers, trying to hold the reins with one hand. In addition, there were also races in their standard sense, who came to the finish line first got the right to kill any gladiator that came to the finish line after him. Given that many gladiators held their teeth against each other, many perceived chariot races as a personal reason to commit a long-planned revenge.
Also, this sport was held in Ancient Egypt, but there it was of a ritual character, directly related to the ascension of the god Ra to heaven. The Pharaoh’s chariot passed through the possessions, and his face was illuminated by the sowing crop, which was supposed to come up only with the help of sunlight. If someone stood in the way of the chariot, or if this race killed an accidental onlooker, “Ra” was angry with ordinary people, depriving them of a good harvest. Therefore, the road was cleared in advance, and along with the pharaoh in the chariot there was always a trustee.
Nowadays, this sport has disappeared from the life of an ordinary person. Instead, other sports related to a particular device and a racing element appeared. Car racing, regular racing. The chariot was modernized when, as a necessity, it simply came to naught after modernization. This sport is relevant only in the framework of additional tourist entertainment, or sports competitions of the reenactors of the new time.
In the usual understanding of sport as an independent unit, chariot races not only faded into the background, they disappeared from the pages of modern history. As a historical stage, chariot races were an important stage for the formation of Greek society, when, as in the Roman Empire, it was just another type of entertainment available that was directly related to the involvement of slaves in it.
