RACING ON BOATS “24 HOURS OF RWAN”

Motorboat racing is often compared with the competition of marine boats, as they are connected by one regulation, which is why the name arose.
The World Championship as well as the Middle East Championship are held for this sport.
Foundation History: motorboats appeared almost at the same time as cars. The famous German designer G. Dyler in 1886 invented the world’s first motor boat and named it “Neckar”. In 1889, French athletes drew attention to this invention, and at the same time organized the first international boat competitions. In 1908, this sport became part of the Olympic Games. The Soviet Union also did not lag behind and in 1900 the first Soviet catamaran was invented. He worked on a gasoline engine and could reach speeds of up to 13 km / h. The first such competition on our land was the initiative of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club. Also in 1907, the Soviet engineer Lutsky, on his own invented boat, participated in competitions in Germany.

The most famous types of water-motor “boats” on which the competition takes place are: jet ski, glider and sports boats with a motor.
Usually in such competitions there are several subtypes: racing on the ring, parallel to slalom, freestyle free.
The essence of all these competitions is to pass a certain distance of distance, which can consist of several circles, in the shortest time.
This sport also has varieties, one of these varieties is called “24 hours of Rouen”. It is worth noting that the first race was held in 1923, but not in France, but near the town of Le Mans. The competition is attended by more than 20 countries. This sport has been held for 51 years in a row. It consists of three classes: (Formula 1, Formula 2, Formula 4). This race involves four people for each motor boat. Every 2 hours, the pilots change each other, and at the same time the boat is refueling and oil is being changed.

If we take our time, then in 2019 in France, namely in the city of Rouen, one of the most prestigious races of the world water-motor series “24 hours of Rouen” started, including the Russian racing team “NewStar” among the contenders for the top step of the “Podium” . Motor boats went to the marathon for 24 hours with the logo of the anniversary of the capital of the Chuvash Republic on board. Of course, the pilots in these competitions must be energetic and hardy. The pilots this year were: Roman and Dmitry Vandyshev, Konstantin Ustinov, Dmitry Malkin.

A marathon is usually held in early May. The race was held on May 1 from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. and on May 2 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. This time was not chosen by chance, but for safety reasons, since several years ago one of the boats crashed into a rescue boat and some people died. Passing the track is not as easy as it seems, as there are very uncomfortable turns when passing which require unique dexterity and attentiveness. Obstacles are also strong tides and “standing” waves.
An interesting fact: in the Soviet Union, athletes said that participating in the “24 hours of Rouen” races was tantamount to suicide. Nowadays, the race is open to all comers and Russian athletes take part in it.

Well, if you just want to look at this sport, then buy a plane ticket and book a hotel in Rouen, but in advance, because the competitions are very popular and it will be very difficult to find an overnight stay at the peak of the competition. About 250 thousand spectators come to watch the race annually.
