ALL ABOUT BUILDING

The debate on the topic: “What is building?” Is still ongoing. Some believe that this is a sport, only very unusual and extreme; others claim that this is just a form of climbing; others believe that building is just a kind of parkour; and the fourth … do not believe and do not assume, because they simply do not know what it is. For them, in fact, this article is written.

Buildering_2 Definition.
The word “building” can not be literally translated from English. That is, it is possible, but such a translation, in practice, will do nothing. Judge for yourself: “building” is a building, and “bouldering” is a form of mountaineering. In general, by combining two short words, it turned out one long, but what a capacious concept.Building is a free ascent to the outside of a tall building or to another building structure or structure with a significant height. Such an ascent is always fraught with incredible difficulties, and naturally, any unprepared person may not even try to conquer the city peaks, because the outcome of this enterprise is completely predictable. It should be noted that such “sorties” are carried out without special equipment, and, of course, without insurance. Otherwise, what’s the point?
Building is also a type of parkour. More precisely, not a variety, but part of parkour. Moreover, the most extreme and dangerous. But most citizens still do not agree with this, and consider building a separate sport. Not quite, by the way, legal. Athletes make their ascents mainly at night. Both single and group ascents are widespread. The police of all countries do not approve of such a sport, so they are trying in every possible way to prevent such events. Although, if there is permission, then – please! And they are not issued as often as builders would like.

How did it all start?
From the very moment when the first high-rise building was built. Who knows, maybe the ancient Egyptians were entertained by similar ascents to the pyramid of Cheops. Such facts have not reached modern mankind. But one thing is clear: if a high-rise building appears, then there will certainly be an eccentric who wants to climb on it. For example, this was the case in 1970, after the completion of the construction of the first World Trade Center in New York. George Willing became the pioneer in conquering this peak. For almost four hours he climbed the wall of a 110-story skyscraper, on the roof of which police officers were waiting for him. What was he like? Nothing. The builder escaped with a penny fine, but how much adrenaline he got! In general, building arose back in the 19th century, and the students of Cambridge University came up with it. Who would have thought that after a century and a half this “harmless” entertainment and dangerous activity would become a real sport, and that various competitions would be held? Although, initially, nobody seriously took building.

The most famous spider-people.
Who does not know Alain Robert? Probably the one who does not read newspapers and does not watch TV. Today, Alain Robert is the most famous and famous builder. Or, as it is called – “Spider-Man.” Although, the first builder who got this “title” was an American by the name of Gardiner. It was he who distinguished himself by making regular ascents to skyscrapers in the USA and Canada, moreover, he did it in ordinary clothes, and among the necessary devices and equipment he only had his own hands and feet. It was the first Spider-Man in history. And that was back in 1918. Thanks to Gardiner, other citizens of the United States and Canada began to join this sport. Someone was lucky, someone crashed to death as a result of a fall, but George Polly was the most “lucky”. This man with enviable constancy fell into the clutches of the police. In practice, his every climb to the skyscrapers ended with a cordial meeting on the roof with the police.

How are things with this issue in Russia?
Perfectly. This sport has found a response in the hearts of extreme people, and now it is actively developing along with parkour. The participation of Russian athletes in the championships in this sport is not questioned, and they have very high expectations. Let’s hope that they will be justified.
